ABOUT DEVON
The county of Devon, England is situated in the far South West of the UK and has plenty to see and do, keeping you entertained no matter what your interests. The area has not one but two beautiful coastlines to explore both with cliff walks, sandy beaches, secluded coves, seaside resorts, fishing villages and towns. The inland countryside consists of rolling hills and fertile farmlands with a number of rivers running throughout the county.
There are many family attractions, places of interest, historic buildings and outdoor activities to enjoy. Some of the highlights and things you might like to do on your glamping holiday include Steam train rides on the South Devon Railway, a great way to see the countryside, visit Powderham Castle a 600 year old family home or Watermouth Theme Park and Castle.
After seeing the county via road and rail why not take a relaxing horse drawn canal boat trip and sticking with the water theme visit Burrator Reservoir which will also allow you to take a walk or trip to the moors of Dartmoor, you can even see the county from underground with a visit to Kents Cavern a labyrinth of caverns used by prehistoric people.
All of these activities will no doubt make you hungry and thirsty and Devon will not let you down when it comes to places to eat and drink. From top quality high profile chef restaurants to village pubs, whilst here you must of course try some of the local delicacies, a warm scone covered in clotted cream and jam, Devonshire Cream Tea, Cornish pasty in many varieties, squab pie and of course some scrumpy cider and locally brewed ales and beers.
