ABOUT HATAY

The Hatay region or province in Turkey is in the south eastern part of the country on the Mediterranean sea. The capital of Antakya is home to the Hatay Archaeology Museum and is famous for its outstanding collection of Roman and Byzantine mosaics. The area is generally quite hilly yet fertile at the same time, places to visit in the region would include the new and old town of Antakya, the ancient Roman water tunnel of Vespasianus Titus Tunnel located in Samandag.

The only remaining Armenian village in Turkey, Vakıflı Koyu, St Pierre Kilisesi which is a church carved into the mountain side, Bakras Castle, Hain der Daphne waterfalls, Sokullulu Kervansarayi which dates back to the 1500’s and Payas Fortress, as well as a host of other things to see and do, not to mention the beautiful coastline and mountains.
